Frequently Asked Questions
Can multi-colored tattoos be removed fully?
In most situations yes, but not always. We use the MedLite C6 tattoo removal machine which is the gold standard for laser tattoo removal and has four wavelengths to remove all colors of ink. Some colors are more difficult to remove such as blue and green and may require several/additional treatments. Some colors cannot be removed such as white and pink.
How many treatments does it require?
On average, tattoos take between 5 and 15 tattoo removal treatments. Things such as color, type of ink, skin color, location, and age of tattoo effect how many treatments you will need. When you come in for a consultation we can look at your tattoo and review all of this with you.
Will the tattoo lighten with one treatment?
One of the first three treatments will lighten the tattoo. Some people will see this after one treatment and for others it may take longer. Everyone responds differently.
If the tattoo looks healed can I come in before six weeks?
It takes four weeks for the body to start breaking down the ink and even though the tattoo may appear healed, it is not. The tattoo laser removal breaks the ink down into smaller pieces and then the body has to get rid of it. This process takes 4-6 weeks so getting treated sooner than that will not make the tattoo removal any quicker and can also put you at risk for scarring.
What are the limitations after treatment?
Limit the amount of physical activity that you do and sun exposure for the first 24 hours. If the body gets too over heated it can cause the tattoo to blister. Showers can be taken but only if they are luke warm and use mild soap.
Can I have just a piece of the tattoo removed?
Yes, our tattoo removal machine is accurate and can remove unwanted parts of tattoos.
I have permanent make-up (lip liner, eyeliner, eyebrows). Can you remove it?
Yes we can remove these but there is a risk associated with it. Some cosmetic inks have metallic bases and when the laser hits it, it can turn black. Once this darkening occurs, it takes much longer to remove. A test spot is always done first.
Does the laser cause scarring?
Most of the time no, but 99% of avoiding scarring is being compliant with aftercare instructions. If you are not compliant and develop a blister it could cause scarring.

How much does tattoo removal cost?
The tattoo removal cost depends on the size of tattoo you are having treated. We will have to take a look at the tattoo to see the exact size of it because we do not charge for open space. Most people tend to overestimate the size of their tattoo.
Can I lighten the tattoo to have another one put on top?
Of course, depending on the colors of the tattoo we recommend have 3-5 tattoo removal treatments done to lighten it before having a cover up tattoo put on. You should wait six weeks between your last treatment and when you put on the new one.
Does it hurt? What should I expect it to feel like?
This tattoo removal procedure is slightly more uncomfortable than getting a tattoo, however it is very fast. Most treatments take between 25-60 seconds.
Will I blister and scab afterwards?
Blisters and scabs are normal. You should not pop or pick at them. If it is bothering you feel free to call us to come in and have it drained. If the blister pops on its own, keep the skin over it and cover with a healing ointment and gauze. This will promote healing and prevent scarring.
I got my tattoo one week ago. Can I have it removed right now?
Unfortunately no. You must wait six weeks after a tattoo has been put on to start the laser tattoo removal process.
How does ink type impact tattoo removal?
Amateur and homemade inks are usually easier to remove. Amateur tattoo artistry often means that the ink is not as deep as a professionally trained artist. There are also a variety of inks that professionals use.
Why do some peoples tattoos disappear faster than others?
There are many factors that go into the number of sessions an individual needs to remove a tattoo. As we’ve noted, laser tattoo removal is the process of breaking up and destroying ink in your skin pigment. Because inks, depth of ink penetration and skin type vary, so does the number of sessions needed. The skin the body’s largest organ. Healthy organs are more resilient. A patient’s level of hydration, strength of immune system and overall health are also factors. The age of the tattoo is a factor. In terms of session length, a patient is limited to 15-20 minutes during a typical session based on how much pigment can actually breakdown at any given time as well as pain tolerance. Longer sessions cause too much skin irritation and increase after effects.
